Israeli Army Retaliates with Missile Attacks on Syria After Rockets Fired at Golan Heights
On early Sunday, the Israeli army carried out missile attacks on several locations in Syria, claiming retaliation for the rockets fired from Syrian territory into the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The Israeli army reported that rockets were launched from Syria and warned that they would take action in response.
According to reports, three rockets were launched at Natur and Avnei Eitan in southern Golan Heights, and two of them landed in an open region, while the third one was destroyed by the Iron Dome missile defense system. The Israeli army statement mentioned that one missile landed in an uninhabited area to the south of the Golan Heights.
The Israeli army stated that it had been monitoring the firing of rockets from Syria, which has been happening regularly, targeting the areas under its control. As a result, the army launched strikes on Syrian army locations with fighter jets. Israel has held the Syrian area of the Golan Heights under occupation since 1967.
The recent escalation of violence between Israel and Syria has increased concerns about the possibility of a wider conflict in the region. The Israeli army's actions have been met with condemnation by the Syrian government, which called the attacks a violation of international law and an act of aggression against a sovereign nation.
The United Nations has also expressed concern over the situation, urging both sides to exercise restraint and avoid any action that could further destabilize the region.
